Testimonials

Billy Horton’s Cactus Athletic Camps will not only make you a better player but learn how to be a better person. Billy’s compassion and patience when working with the youth is inspiring!

Brett Fischer, owner of Fischer Sports Physical Therapy and Conditioning

Billy Horton is a bright young coach who informs, instructs, and inspires his athletes. He also makes a difference in their lives, on and off the field, because he cares about them as people, not just players.

Tom House, former MLB player & coach and the founder of the National Pitching Association

My kids get a little lazy over the winter and I as a Little League coach spend the month before tryouts getting them ready myself, but this year I decided to try something new. I put them in twice-a-week private lessons with Billy and the things that he taught not only them, but me as well helped them make tremendous strides in their play and in my coaching ability. He helped us all become better.

Drew Pitt; Cactus LL Coach and Board Member

Billy Horton’s methods, in how he teaches & runs his camps, are first class. He approaches every athlete as a whole person & this multidimentional perspective helps Billy bring out an athlete’s full potential. He not only teaches quality baseball skills, but he also has a gift of challenging & encouraging young players on a mental, emotional & spiritual level. Cactus Camps offer everything you could ever want for your developing athlete.

Danny Putnam, current Oakland Athletics outfielder

Billy has the ability to take a good athlete and take them to the next level. The mechanics of most batter’s swings needs some subtle tweeks every so often to keep it working for the athlete. After listening to his teaching methods I believe the next level involves working the count to a hitter’s favor, understanding the zones a pitcher wants to work you, identifying pitches and understanding how to hit the ball where it is pitched. My son has benefited from Billy’s easy manner of coaxing/coaching him to take it to the next level. He is realizing that it takes more than just being a talented athlete to have success.

Steven Clasen, father of 14 yr old, Jeff

I wanted to tell you what an amazing clinic you put on. My husband and I were so impressed with not only what you taught the kids, but the messages you all shared with them at the end. They all look up to you guys and listen to what you have to say. Thank you for your time and effort. We are going to sign up for as many clinics as we can!!!

Suzanne Affeldt, mother of 13 yr old Jack

My son has been going to Billy for baseball lessons for two years & over this time he has shown tremendous improvement. He has joined a club team and just recently he hit three homeruns over the fence in one game!! Not only has his batting improved, but his pitching is great as well. Zayne has learned the disciplines of baseball and gained tremendous strength both physically and spiritually. Billy has made my son believe in himself and his skills by being a great motivator, mentor and trainer.

Lisa Mowen, mother of 11 yr old Zayne

Finding a mentor, coach & leader that cares for all the aspects of your kid’s life is rare these days…but, you definitley have one in Billy Horton. No question.

Jim Reid, financial professional with Merrill Lynch

We were first introduced to Billy nearly two years ago through a baseball clinic he held for Cactus Little League players. Our son Griffin had just finished two years of Tee Ball and was moving up to coach pitch. Never having participated in a clinic, we were not sure what to expect from the instructors and how they would interact with such young inexperienced players. We did our research on Billy and Cactus Camps and found that his core values were in line with our own. It is without reservation that I recommend Billy Horton and Cactus Camps to anyone with a son or daughter currently involved in baseball or contemplating participating in the great American pastime. Billy has brought the love of the game back to baseball fields in your neighborhood.

Brian F. Raczynski, father of 9 yr old Griffin

I have to tell you what a great time Jake had at your clinic. He came home and told me play by play what he learned! Thank you for giving these kids this opportunity, and with such humble confidence. Jake lost his father in August and having someone like you to look up to in the baseball arena sure is helpful to us. He will definitely be at the clinic over Thanksgiving and I will spread the word of your great, professional, inspiring clinics!

Kathryn Palmer, mother of 11 yr old Jake

I contacted Cactus Athletic Camps for some hitting lessons for my son who had been struggling with inside pitches. I spoke with Billy Horton and we set up our first lesson. He immediately saw what was happening and developed a corrective procedure. By the second lesson my son got it and now can hit on any side of the plate. I write this because I feel that if I had such a positive experience with a specific problem, others could also benefit from it too.

Tom Kardys, father of 14 yr old Dennis

Billy has the desire and ability to make a player really succeed. He has given my son maybe the most important skill; to realize mistakes and to know what needs to be done to self correct. When I point out an area of correction, Matty usually says, “I know, I can feel that.”

Dave West, former president of Cactus Little League and father of 10 yr old Matt
